the midnight sun (twilightzone)
I was heavily inspired by 1960s visual culture for this project, particularly the emergency broadcast posters from CONELRAD (Control of Electromagnetic Radiation), a U.S. system established in 1951 during the Cold War. I wanted to imagine how government messaging might look in a speculative scenario inspired by The Twilight Zone episode The Midnight Sun, in which Earth’s orbit is disrupted, and the planet begins drifting toward the Sun. In this reimagined context, I developed SORAMA (Department of Solar Radiation Management), a fictional government agency responsible for managing extreme solar radiation and climate instability. The project includes a propaganda-style poster, informational flyers, and a shelter sign, all designed to reflect how the government might communicate urgency, control, and public compliance during such a crisis.
